Costumes play a vital role in Polynesian dance as they emphasize movements. Each type of dance corresponds to a type of costume, for example the 'more' (skirt made of bark fiber) for the o'te'a or the “pareu” (loincloth) for the 'aparima to which are added the accessories : hatua (belt), taupo'o (headdress) and i'i (fiber tufts).
