Corsican houses and hamlets
1
0
The Corsican village houses are the cradle and emblem of the family. Exclusive private territories, they are built with local stone walls and lauze roofs. Their number of floors and their location in the village reveal the power of their owner. Surrounded by a few vines and fruit trees, they are grouped into hamlets composed of 'tre case e un fornu' (three houses and one oven).
