The corrosion of the coastal coral terraces of Maré Island is due to the presence of lithophyte algae as well as to physicochemical phenomena related to their contact with the hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere. The alternations of humidification and desiccation characteristic of the coastal areas are more frequent and active in warm areas and in places beaten by the swell, wind and currents such as Shabadran Bay.
