Climate changes are a major concern for coral reefs. Increasing the temperature of ocean waters by 33.8 to 37.4°F (1 to 3°C) by 2100 will lead to coral bleaching followed by a massive coral mortality. The increase in El Nino phenomena and in the frequency of cyclonic disturbances is also responsible for significant degradations.
