Lifou Island is a huge coral reef at an altitude of 341ft (104m). On the east coast to the south of which is Wadra Bay, the reef flat exposed to the waves of the ocean slopes gently. Despite the erosion caused by the waves, it forms the part of the reef most favorable to coral growth thanks to the water oxygenation and supply of nutrients and light, hence the multitude of coral potatoes at the entrance to the bay.
