The Valley of the Lakes in the Vosges mountains is also known as the “Fairy Valley”. Legends tell that fairies can take the form of whitish mists on damp areas. They are supposedly fond of the shores of Lake Longemer, where they sing lullabies in the moonlight. The lake is first and foremost home to protected aquatic plants. It is therefore closely monitored so that he would retain its luminosity and not turn into peat bogs.
