In Corsica, the pass of Bavella is one of the four most important passes of the island. It connects the region of the Alta Rocca on the west to the east coast of the island. At an altitude of 1218 m (3,996 ft), it provides a view of the sea in bright weather. It is overlooked by the seven sumptuous needles of Bavella (Aiguilles de Bavella): they are rocky sharped peaks jagged by erosion, the highest of which reaches 900 m (2,953 ft).
