The working conditions of the kaveka egg pickers are not simple. Although the harvests are reasonable and many eggs are spared, the thousands of terns nesting on the Teuaua motu where picking is allowed are furious with these devastating raids. Their chirping is deafening and their swooping attacks are coupled with virulent peckings.
