The Blacktip Reef shark is one of the 3 most common coral reef sharks in the Indo-Pacific zone, where it predominates in shallow habitats (reef edge, sandbar). This coastal habitat, accentuated by the practice of shark feeding, puts it in frequent contact with humans and explains the high concentration of individuals on the sandbars of Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora at high tide.
