Comtois, a breed carrying the Silver gene
The Comtois breed presents only bay coats with washed horsehair linked to the dominant Silver gene introduced after World War II by a single breeding stallion named Questeur. They can be confused with the washed horsehair chestnut horses (carriers of the Flaxen gene) of which they are distinguished only by the black and silvery gray bottom of their legs.
