Not only a proud appearance but also of a great gentleness. The Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) has a straight head with large ears with which it communicates. A soft look and a beautiful white muzzle give it all to be liked. Its mane is short and its dove-grey coat is a little woolly. A black or brown cross is spread over its back and shoulders. The bay, dark, black and white hued coats are excluded from the breed standards by the Cotentin donkey studbook (census register).
