Comfortless Cove

0
An isolated cove on Ascension Island where, in the 19th century, ships arriving to enter the port were required to anchor here and present a clean bill of health. Any ship carrying fever would be quarantined to protect the island inhabitants. Bonetta Cemetery is close by, named after HMS Bonetta, whose fever victims were brought ashore in 1838. https://www.ascension.gov.ac/map-marker/comfortless-cove
