In Camargue racing, a cocardier bull is called so because it wears the cockade, one of the attributes that the raseteurs must catch with a hook. The Camargue bull, also known as raço di biòu, is smaller, more nervous, and faster than its Spanish cousin. It is castrated to make it less impulsive and, therefore, more calculating and dangerous during the races.
