Each manta ray has a specific coloration that allows its identification. Its dark back usually has large white spots of varying shape at the shoulders. They curve backwards and can join together forming a unique pattern. Its ventral surface is white with possible black spots with random distribution. A small semicircular spot is visible on each side, just below the 5th branch slot.
