Pacific Emerald Dove, a discreet and not very gregarious bird

The Pacific Emerald Dove (Chalcophaps longirostris) shows little sexual dimorphism, the female being quite similar to the male except for a few nuances of color. Neither very gregarious nor very demonstrative, it evolves most of the time as a couple or alone but rarely in small family groups. The breeding period does not give rise to display flights but is limited to simple silent greetings from the male before mating.
