For the traction of carriages, the Comtois horses of the 'Attelages du Val d'Amour' are fitted with collars which allow a better distribution of the load on their chest. This piece, which can be made of wood, leather or metal, wraps around the horse's neck - hence its name - and rests mainly against its shoulders when towing. Equipped with an articulated device and a lock, the collars can generally be directly passed around the animals' necks.
