During a cold winter morning when this picture was taken, local people are walking along the Gwanghwamun Plaza (Korean: 광화문광장), which is a public open space on Sejongno, Jongno-gu in Seoul. Seoul (Korean: 서울); lit. 'Capital'), officially the Seoul Special City, is the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea. It has a population of 9.7 million people, and forms the heart of the Seoul Capital Area with the surrounding Incheon metropolis and Gyeonggi province. The Gwanghwamun Plaza was opened on 01st August 2009 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and is part of the City's plans for environmentally friendly renovation projects such as the Cheonggye Stream and Seoul Plaza.
