Nowadays, Inuit people are mostly sedentary but continue to enjoy this outdoor activity with their family, perpetuating their ancestors' practices. Animal skin tents (“tupiq” in Inuktitut) are rarely used in modern times; today most Inuit use canvas tents (“tupikhaq”).
