Endemic to southern Africa, the Cape Cobra is a diurnal snake which easily climbs trees to steal birds' nests, such as weavers for instance. It also feeds on rodents. When it is not active, it remains on the ground for a long time in holes or sheltered in brushes. When disturbed, it raises its fore-body and unfolds its cap.
