The littoral of Maré Island alternates beaches, exposed coral shredded by erosion and bare cliffs. The narrow and discontinuous coastal plain is covered with low and clear woody formations of shrubs, bushes, grasses and lianas on sandy ground. In the exposed coral areas - as here in Shabadran Bay - only a sparse herbaceous vegetation grows on the rock crevices.
