These lions are part of a coalition of six males. Laying in the South African bush until dusk, they start to move. After roaring a few moments to indicate their territory to potential competitors, they are looking for olfactory informations, sniffing the bush. The reaction of this lion, pulling back the top lip, is called flehmen. He analyses the smells thanks to his Jacoson's organ, located between the palate and the nose. In this way, lions can for instance identify females in oestrus.
