Co-cathédrale Saint-Jean à la Valette

La première pierre de la co-cathédrale Saint-Jean est posée en 1573 selon les plans de l’architecte maltais Girolamo Cassar. Sobre en extérieur l’édifice renferme l’exubérance de l’art baroque et les signatures d’artistes emblématiques : le Caravage, Mattia Preti. Le pavement composé de dalles de marbre abrite les tombes des chevaliers. Huit merveilleuses chapelles dédiées aux huit langues de l’ordre de Saint-Jean entourent la nef.
