Se trata de uno de los líquenes de aspecto lepraroide (pulverulento) más vistosos de las cortezas de los troncos de árboles con corteza rugosa. Su color amarillo intenso y la disposición difusa del talo sobre las fisuras sombreadas de la corteza permite diferenciarla de otras especies similares del género Lepraria.
Talo difuso, lepraroide, de aspecto pulverulento, sin córtex, muy poco delimitado, de color amarillo, amarillo anaranjado o ligeramente verdoso. Está completamente cubierto de soredios globosos.
Distribución geográfica: Ampliamente distribuida por toda Europa, pero ausente en las altas montañas.
