Chromatic characteristics of the black tip reef shark

The tips of the fins of the black tip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), especially the first dorsal and the caudal, are clearly marked of shiny black with a white stripe. There is also a white streak on its sides which contrasts with its gray to brown dorsal livery and its entirely white belly. Thin and relatively small, it has an average size of 5.2ft (160cm) in adulthood.
