Excellent hunter, the cheetah is a frugal carnivore. Its daily needs are limited to 6lbs (3kg) and 8lbs (4kg) of meat, about 6% of its total weight. Its favorite preys are antelopes, which represent approximately 80% of to diet. Its hunting rhythm varies according to its situation. While a solitary individual or a male in coalition can settle for a gazelle every 2-3 days, a female in charge of her offspring hunts more regularly. Not at all scavenger, it never returns to a carcass and must hunt fresh preys at each meal.
