In the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the Clos de Vougeot castle rises through the vines. The massive historical monument all made of stones and wood takes all its importance in the region. The monks improved the art of winemaking at the Clos de Vougeot castle. The estate became the heart of the pinot noir wine variety. The simplicity of the Middle Age architecture contrasts with the sophistication of the Renaissance added parts of the structure.
