La flore corse est d’une grand diversité. La flore se divise en trois étages successifs. L’étage méditerranéen (jusqu’à 1000 m environ) est le territoire du maquis, des chênes verts et chênes-lièges, des oliviers et des châtaigniers. Les forêts de pins et de hêtres peuplent l’étage montagnard, qui s’étend entre 1000 et 1800 m environ. L’étage alpin (au- dessus de 1800 m) accueille une végétation faible et rase, constituée d’un peu d’herbe et de petites espèces d’altitude, tel ce chardon.
