Brain maltreated by cheetah sprint effort
1
0
The cheetah sprint effort is extremely physiologically demanding which explains both its brevity and the necessary recovery time. The sprint first results in a sharp increase in the internal temperature of the cheetah that can exceed 105.8°F (41°C) and become dangerous, especially for its brain. It also requires a large volume of oxygen supply demanding a physiological adaptation that favors the contribution to the muscles and partially disables the brain. The brain is then in hypoxia, which inevitably leads to the discontinuation of the pursuit. Sometimes the animal may faint after sprinting due to this oxygen deficiency of the brain.
