Coffee is often grown on the mountainside: a mechanical harvest is not often possible. Coffee cherries are manually harvested using two different methods: stripping or selective picking. Stripping method consists to strip off all the coffee cherries of a branch at one time, manually or with a wide comb whereas picking method requires several harvests on the same tree because only fully ripe cherries are picked.
