Here, a ceremony for the presentation of a new Bisj, a totem. Asmats are widely known as wood carvers. The Bisj is a totem and a way of communicating with their ancestor's spirits. The wow ipits - the sculptors, meet every day in the longhouse to work on the wood. Each incision is followed by a pray.
