The cep is a fungus of the Bolateceae family. It prefers acidic and well-drained soils. It grows under very diverse trees, sometimes isolated, but mostly in large troops, in coniferous woods (Scots pines, spruces, firs), in thickets and deciduous forests (oaks, beech trees, chestnut trees...).
