The Fanfonne Guillierme manade (Camargue bull and/or horses herd) bears the name of the first female manadière (herd's leader). Also known as the first female bull breeder, Fanfonne Guillierme is honored by herdsmen every year during a gathering in traditional costumes during which women are in the spotlight. Thanks to her influence, women riders and herdswomen are increasingly present in Camargue and thus prove the evolution of a tradition where women were originally not very much accepted. The celebrations of the life of Fanfonne Guillierme take place every year since 1989 (the year of her death) and traditionally mark the beginning of the bullfighting season in Camargue.
