Famous staircase

The most famous staircase of Bonifacio, and perhaps of Corsica, is the King of Aragon's stairs, carved steeply in the cliff. Its 187 steps join the sea 213ft (65m) below. It was probably carved by the inhabitants of the city to get water supplies from the spring flowing at its base after two Spanish attempts of siege.
