Caudron C-635 Simoun

Derived from the Caudron C-620 Simoun, the prototype C-630 Simoun designed by engineer Marcel Riffard flew in 1935. Its very thin wings, spacious cockpit, and performance attracted raid pilots. Genin and Robert flew from Paris to Tananarive in 57 hours, André Japy flew from Paris to Hanoi in 51 hours, Maryse Bastié flew the Dakar-Natal (Brazil) distance in 12 hours. The C-635 version was ordered by the French Air Force in 650 units, and was also chosen by the Air Bleu postal services. Only two examples remain in the world, including the one on display at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) in Le Bourget.
