The workers at the GHM foundry in Sommevoire have to endure 2,550° F heat (1,400° C) while controlling their movements and without showing fatigue. It takes years of practice for them before getting into casting and mastering the handling of crucibles. Their equipment sometimes seems insufficient and consists of an aluminized suit, a mask, and gloves. The artisans are focused on their work and barely speak during the casting of incandescent metal.
