Castasegna is a former municipality in the district of Maloja in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, next to the Italian border. It's now part of the municipality of Bregaglia. The town is situated in the lower part of the Bergell above the river Mera, with southern vegetation, but two months of winter shadow. Castasegna is first mentioned in 1374 as Castexegnia. Today the local trade lives from the advantages of the customs place. The Castasegna power station belonging to the city of Zurich's power station is also important. In 2000, the Italian language share was 81 %, the German 16 %. Castasegna suffers from emigration.
