Cascades, waterfalls, cataracts...

Jura is full of spectacular waterfalls, such as the Tufs waterfall of Planches-près-Arbois in this photo. Called cascades, waterfalls, cataracts or even jumps, they are generally located in the mountains and result from a break in the slope of a watercourse whose air flowing continues along a vertical and abrupt wall with a more or less important height drop. They can take all kinds of shapes depending on the configuration of the wall along which they run, the flow of the stream they are on, their height and the season.
