In winter, when it is difficult to find food, reindeers forms distinct small groups: a group of sexually mature males, a group of females with their young, and a group of 1 to 3 years-old youngs. When days lengthen, these small groups bunch together and form very large and mixed herds, then migrate to regions where tundra’s grasses and plants abound.
