Unlike other cervids, male and female reindeer sports antlers. Antlers’reindeer are re-grown each year. Antlers’male reindeer are shed after the breeding season but the female retains them until after giving birth, which helps to compete for food during the winter. Antlers re-grow in only a few weeks.
