Camber and grip

To allow alternating impulse phases with each leg, cross-country skis have a pronounced camber. It is located under the skier's foot, where the push wax is applied. With each propulsion, this zone must be in contact with the snow to guarantee a good grip. On the other hand, during the sliding phase, the weight applied to the camber being reduced, it detaches from the surface and allows a better glide.
