The islets which dot the Caledonian lagoon constitute nesting areas for many seabirds, endemic or not. The nesting period, which runs from October to March, corresponds to their peak of vulnerability. All kinds of threats - rats, pigs, dogs, fires, urban light pollution, building pressures, helicopters, increased use of beaches... - endanger their reproduction and the breeding of the chicks.
