Like all crocodilians, spectacled caimans (Caiman crocodilus) are cold-blooded animals: their body temperature depends on the outside environment. To maintain an optimal temperature, they switch between immersion in water and resting in the sun. The range of this species spread from Central America to the northern half of the South American continent, by the Tropic of Capricorn area.
