Construite de granit et de schiste, elle se situe sur le sentier des douaniers et date du XVIIIe siècle. Elle est située à l’emplacement d'un ancien corps de garde, relais de surveillance et de signaux optiques entre Le Mont-Saint-Michel et Granville. Elle faisait partie d’un ensemble établi par Vauban sur le pourtour de la baie du Mont St Michel, face aux Anglais.
