In the center of the city, the town hall of Alençon is a building in a semicircle. Built in 1783 by the architect Jean Delarue, it encroaches on the site of the castle of the Dukes of Alençon. The current remains of the castle only consist of its western part, three-quarters of which disappeared in 1592 by orders of King Henri IV. The arcuate facade of the town hall made it a Historical Monument in 1926.
