Built on a rocky outcrop

The medieval village of Sainte-Agnès extends on the western flank of a rocky outcrop made up of heterogeneous sandstone and marnocalcary elements from the Upper Cretaceous. The locality of the Alpes-Maritimes department rises from 216 to 4,061 ft (66 to 1,238 m) above sea level. Its lower and intermediate parts consist of clay-limestone soils made up of gray marl and sandstone from Menton, replaced with altitude by rocks from La Turbie.
