The Saint-André church was built on an old lava flow in the centre of the town of Besse en Chandesse. Its elongated plan, facing West, presents a nave with three aisles and a non-protruding transept. The nave ends in a flat bedside flanked by a semi-circular apse, added in 1822. The whole building, whose construction started at the end of the 12th century, is topped by a double-pitched roof.
