The Saint-Julien church of Arles stands inside the medieval walls of the city close to the Rhône. It is located at the corner of the eponymous street and Rue du Quatre-Septembre on the edge of the Cavalry district, where many local nobles enriched by trade settled. Originally built in the 12th century during a period of medieval renaissance, the church was rebuilt in the 17th century, during another era of ecclesiastical restructuring. Its bell tower has two bells, one of which, dating from 1691, is one of the oldest in Arles.
