Although born in Italy, it was in Alsace that Ettore Bugatti created his brand in 1909. Innovative and prolific, he filed close to 1,000 invention patents throughout his life. At the Cité de l'Automobile, an exhibition dedicated to Bugatti retraces his successful past on racing circuits before designing cars. Moved by the will to transmit his passion to his family, he had troubles recovering from his brother's death on a racetrack in 1939. His business disappeared during World War II, and Ettore Bugatti died of exhaustion in 1947 at age 65.
