Brown pelican taking off
In Honduras, the brown pelican lives as well in the mangrove of the Gulf of Fonseca (in the south of the country) as in the mangrove of the Caribbean coast. It is a gregarious bird that nestles in flocks. It spends most of its time fishing. It can perform spectacular dives on the fish school it has spotted. It fills the pouch under its beak with its prey, which it then swallows whole.
