The Breguet 19 was a light bomber built from 1924 onwards. With the “Point d’interrogation”, a BR-19 TF Super Bidon designed for transatlantic flight, Costes and Bellonte made the first successful Paris-New York flight in 1930. Leaving Le Bourget on 1 September, they landed 37 hours later at Curtiss Field in New York. Received as heroes, the pilots toured the United States. They inscribed each stage on the biplane’s fuselage, next to the SPA 3 Cigognes squadron emblem, adopted by the engine manufacturer Hispano-Suiza as a tribute to the pilots of the Great War. The authentic “?” was given to the Musée de l’Air (Air Museum) in 1938.
